I've come to think of this novellas post-Charley Davidson series conclusion as a set up for establishing secondary characters of the Original series and placing them at the ready for Beep's series。 These are all people that will help her with the inevitable war against Satan。 And while Garrett, Quentin and Amber's stories were fleshed out and self-contained, Donovan's story felt a bit underdeveloped and his connection with Sia a bit forced。 There was enough meat in this story to have a full leng I've come to think of this novellas post-Charley Davidson series conclusion as a set up for establishing secondary characters of the Original series and placing them at the ready for Beep's series。 These are all people that will help her with the inevitable war against Satan。 And while Garrett, Quentin and Amber's stories were fleshed out and self-contained, Donovan's story felt a bit underdeveloped and his connection with Sia a bit forced。 There was enough meat in this story to have a full length novel that would dive deep and establish the Donovan/Sia relationship as well as the mystery subplot could have been fleshed out better。 The conclusion to the 'mystery' came too quickly and their relationship went form 0 to 100 in a few pages。I always loved Donovan but he was not as developed as Garrett or Quentin and Amber in the original series, so this injection novella, while amazing for my Charley-starved-soul, felt underwhelming and Donovan deserved more。 I still enjoyed the novella and I can't wait for more stories set in this world。*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review* 。。。more

I have only one problem with this book。 Ok maybe more but still…。。 it was too short。 Like a big tease giving just a taste。 All the favorite characters from the series ok most of them。 And then it’s over。 I want to say more but I don’t want to give away anything。 Because that ending……

I absolutely loved Donovan and Sia's story! I didn't realize who Sia was until I read this and now I feel like I need to go back a couple books and read where she was first introduced。 I loved that she was brought back and how she was brought back for this series。 I've always loved Donovan so I'm glad Sia is the one for him。 I found them charming together even though I wouldn't normally describe Donovan as charming。 I also thought his interactions with Beep was adorable。Reading this has made me I absolutely loved Donovan and Sia's story! What’s not to love about the Charley Davidson world! Loved seeing Donovan’s whirl wind story。 I wish maybe we saw a little more Charlie but getting to see some of Beep was great。 I just love this series so much and even the novellas are packed full of so much! Darynda is a master of words and the paranormal world!

The Graveside Bar and Grill: A Charley Davidson Novella by Darynda Jones was absolutely perfect!I loved Donovan and Sia’s story, and the way Darynda let’s of okay out with enough bumps to keep you guessing。Bring a supernatural is not easy, and feeling like you’re always on guard for what’s going to happen is even harder。Sia rolls with it all with the help of Donovan and her best friend Benji。Mix this all in with Charley and Reyes, and you’re ready for one funny and wild and chaotic ride。5 Stars

I just binged the 13。5, 13。6, and 13。7 novellas in this series。 They ARE standalones, but this one was just okay compared to 13。5 and 13。6。 I don't know I'm not sure if it was the main characters or the story that was keeping me from wowing me。 I do think they are good though to get a taste of Darynda's writing。 And light on the paranormal side for those who don't like reading paranormal。 Charley Davidson series is awesome though。 I highly recommend them。I received this book at my request and ha I just binged the 13。5, 13。6, and 13。7 novellas in this series。 They ARE standalones, but this one was just okay compared to 13。5 and 13。6。 I don't know I'm not sure if it was the main characters or the story that was keeping me from wowing me。 I do think they are good though to get a taste of Darynda's writing。 And light on the paranormal side for those who don't like reading paranormal。 Charley Davidson series is awesome though。 I highly recommend them。I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review。 This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review。 。。。more

Just happy to return to Charley’s worldI would like to thank Darynda Jones and Dark Nights Press/Evil Eye Concepts, Inc。 for allowing me to read a free ARC in exchange for an honest review。 Also thank you to Tanaka Kangara at Social Butterfly PR for being the go-between and providing assets。I did my best to avoid spoilers, but if you want absolutely none whatsoever 。 。 。 why are you reading reviews?Hmm。 So。 I didn’t realize this would be focused on Donovan (leader of the biker gang that’s been w Just happy to return to Charley’s worldI would like to thank Darynda Jones and Dark Nights Press/Evil Eye Concepts, Inc。 for allowing me to read a free ARC in exchange for an honest review。 Also thank you to Tanaka Kangara at Social Butterfly PR for being the go-between and providing assets。I did my best to avoid spoilers, but if you want absolutely none whatsoever 。 。 。 why are you reading reviews?Hmm。 So。 I didn’t realize this would be focused on Donovan (leader of the biker gang that’s been wrapped around Charley’s finger since early in the series) until I began reading。 I just knew it was a Charley novella (nuff said, right?)。 I can’t say I needed a follow-up for Donovan; I liked his character but wasn’t particularly attached to him。 But I’ll take it。First, I advise you to read or reread Thirteen before reading this。 Also Graveyard Shift。 Just so circumstances and events are fresh in your mind。 I wish I’d known to reread them; it’s been a hot minute, and I was a bit lost until the narrative reminded me of things。So not long after the events of Graveyard Shift, teenage Elwyn (we’re apparently not calling her Beep anymore) asks Donovan to drop everything and look after a woman named Dr。 Lucia Maribal, or Sia for short (I assume that’s where “Sia” came from; the woman has several different names, which is apparently a requirement for characters in this series)。 The doc, who is the self-designated primary for Elwyn’s band of misfits—and no, we haven’t met her yet (I think?), stop wracking your brain to remember who she is like I did through the first chapter—is acting “distraught” suddenly, and on Elwyn’s whim Donovan abandons his life and business to stalk the doc and try to figure out what’s up with her。 (To his credit, he does try to simply ask first。)It was an okay little story。 Again, while I liked Donovan and the bikers, I didn’t particularly care about them, so this doesn’t have a huge impact on me。 Sia and Donovan’s relationship was way too underdeveloped for me to believe they fell in love, more so that Donovan was already in love with Sia, but it’s of little consequence。 The mystery subplot was rather self-derivative, felt a little been-there-done-that, and the villain was pretty easy to defeat (though it was entertaining to imagine ;)。But, if you’re just looking for a shot of Charley to get you through this long-ass wait for Beep’s—excuse me, Elwyn’s—trilogy, then, like me, you’ll probably find this novella was satisfying enough。The end result of the climax, as pertains to Donovan, WAS incredibly satisfying, and a long time coming。(P。S。, ignore faulty story-logic, such as that the doc, as guileless as the day is long, likely visited the compound more than once, and not one of the supposedly super-observant people living there ever noticed she could see paranormal entities, such as all the poochies。)Darynda hasn’t had a Facebook Live session to update us in a loooong time (not that she’s accountable to us), so I have no idea what’s next in the Charley world。 I’ve heard nothing more about the cookbook or Cookie and Bob novella (though she was working on a novella while at a hotel on July 9, so maybe 。 。 。 ?)。 I hope we’ll get the first book of Osh and Elwyn in 2023, but 2024 wouldn’t surprise me。 Otherwise there’s the third and final Sunshine this December (EEEE!!!!!), and Darynda’s still dinking around with that second Betwixt trilogy in her free time。Overall 。 。 。 I miss Osh。 Like, bad。 。。。more

Garrett, Quentin & Amber, and Donovan deserve to be the main characters in their own full-length novel。 There is just so much more material and trying to tell a story in 100+ pages just isn't enough。 I liked The Graveside Bar and Grill but didn't love it as much as I did the previous novellas。 This book especially felt very rushed and the characters and I just didn't have time to connect and grow。 I was absolutely intrigued by Sia, and I would love to learn more about her。 Her connection to Donovan felt very sudden。 This novella gave me a little taste and left me wanting more。 I am really hoping that we'll get full-length novels in the spinoff series。 I just can't wait to be fully immersed in the amazing world Darynda has created。 。。。more
